River rock is one of the most popular stone products that Rapid Materials delivers. There’s a good reason for its popularity. It comes in an endless variety of shapes, sizes and colors. So it can be used with any landscape design you have in mind.

Just so we’re on the same page, let’s start with a definition of river rock as it applies to landscaping projects. These stones often look dramatically different from one another. Some are as big as a softball, while others are pebble sized. River rock can be blue, green, red, pink, orange, coral, slate gray, or any combination of these colors. It can have stripes, spots and striations, or it can be solid colored. But there is one thing that all landscaping river rocks have in common. They all have a softly rounded shape and a smooth finish. This is what makes them so popular in the landscape design world.

River rock comes from two different sources.  One source is actual rivers. The other source is from dried river beds or glacial till which means the rock is dug up and screened from dirt. River rock has mostly smoothed edges. You will find some broken edges, some varieties have more than others.
